Glass Canon Theatre Company has announced its upcoming production of Lysistrata, a fresh and dynamic adaptation of the classic comedy by Aristophanes. Directed by Emma Jaster and adapted by Jaster and Gil Mitchell, with assistance from Stephen Halliwell, Sarah Ruden, and others, this production brings new life to an ancient story with contemporary relevance and theatrical energy.

Running from May 23 through June 7, 2026, at Dance Loft on 14 (4618 14th Street NW, Washington, D.C.), Lysistrata explores themes of power, resistance, and unity through the lens of one of history's most enduring comedies. In this inventive and thoroughly physical staging, audiences can expect a bold, engaging interpretation that highlights the wit and urgency of Aristophanes' original work while speaking directly to modern audiences.

The production opens with preview performances on Saturday, May 23 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, May 24 at 2:00 PM, followed by opening night on Sunday, May 24 at 7:30 PM, with a reception to follow. Additional performances run Thursdays through Sundays, with Industry Night and a celebration of Glass Canon Theatre Company's first anniversary on Monday, June 1 at 7:30 PM, Women and Nonbinary Affinity Night on May 28th, BIPOC Affinity Night on June 5th, and Pride Night on June 6th.
