LIGHT UP THE LAWN Concert Series to Return to Midwest Trust Center

Stacie McDaniel, Executive Director of the Midwest Trust Center, has announced the concert lineup for Light Up the Lawn, featuring local musicians with diverse sounds.

All concerts will start at 8 p.m. on the lawn of the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art (Johnson County Community College, 12345 College Blvd., Overland Park, KS 66210).

No reservations are required. Come early to enjoy food from a local food truck before each concert.

Performances details include:

  • August 14 - Whether on record or on stage, The Swallowtails (Miki P and Rachel Lovelace) have an unmistakable bond - songs that guide listeners back home to themselves, illuminating the inner worlds the duo so carefully builds between artist and audience.
  • August 21 - Established in 2019, Katy Guillen & The Drive is an independent Indie Roots Rock band from Kansas City, founded by partners Katy Guillen (Vocals, Guitar) and Stephanie Williams (Drums). Katy Guillen & The Drive prides itself on fostering empowered spaces for women in music both onstage and off, and performances showcase the group's signature all-female powerhouse formation, technical prowess, and electrifying chemistry.
  • August 28 – Formed in 2012, Found a Job - A Tribute to Talking Heads is an 8-piece band that primarily performs music from albums released during Talking Heads' Expanded Heads era ("Remain in Light," "Speaking in Tongues," and "Stop Making Sense"). The ensemble also covers songs outside of that era including radio hits such as "Road to Nowhere," "And She Was," "Take me to The River," "Once in a Lifetime," and "Burning Down the House." Currently, the band plays 2+ hours of music, complete with choreography a la the classic concert movie "Stop Making Sense."
