Lehman Center for the Performing Arts presents a hilarious comedy concert that brings together the best Latin comediennes in America, "New Yorican" SARA CONTRERAS, Miami Cubana MONIQUE MARVEZ, Tejana SANDRA VALLS and Hot Tamales' KIKI MELENDEZ, THE ORIGINAL LATIN DIVAS OF COMEDY, on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 8pm. The Original Latin Divas of Comedy, which began as a stand-up comedy special on the Showtime Network, is now touring throughout the United States and has created a cult following with its very funny all-Latina cast. Performed in English, but with a special nod to Latinos, this incredible performance reaches across all cultures to bring even the most diverse audiences to uncontrollable laughter.

Lehman Center for the Performing Arts is on the campus of Lehman College/CUNY at 250 Bedford Park Boulevard West, Bronx, NY 10468. Sara Contreras was chosen to represent New York at the Latino Laugh Festival in San Antonio In 1997 -- the first East Coast Latina to win that spot. She has performed at many top Comedy Clubs, colleges, and private venues across the country. Her television credits include Comedy Central's "Comic Groove," ABC's "The View," A&E's "American Comedy: What's So Funny?" and TC Network's "Que Locos!" Contreras is a founding member of the comedy troupe Sisters Doing Comedy.

Monique Marvez has been featured in the Montreal Comedy Festival's "Just for Laughs" sets and riotous segments of HBO's "Real Sex." As a comedian, she has been featured as a guest on "Montel Williams," as a spokesperson on "Sexy vs. Sleazy," on E! Entertainment's "Talk Soup," and as the hostess of Penthouse Magazine's 25th Anniversary Special. Her one-woman show, "Loca Motive" at Luna Park, attracted Barry Diller's Silver King Broadcasting. He soon tapped Marvez to host her own shows, "Monique over Miami" and "Lady Zings the Blues." Marvez hosts her own number one syndicated radio show every afternoon on JACK-FM.

Sandra Valls, who has traveled the country making people laugh, has recently landed a producing job with a hit show on Latin cable television network Mun2, an offspring of Telemundo. Valls is currently a comic, producer, writer and on-camera reporter for the show "Off the Roof," which covers entertainment and special human interest stories on Latinos. She has also been featured on "Comic View," "The Latino Laugh Festival," "HBO Latino" and "Que Locos!"

Kiki Melendez is an actress, writer, producer, host and creator of Kiki Melendez' "Hot Tamales Live!" - a critically acclaimed special that aired on the Showtime Networks in 2009. She is also known for her work as host of Galavision Network's "Kiki desde Hollywood," America's first bilingual variety show. Melendez has also held Hollywood reporting positions with the BBC.

This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the City Council. Lehman Center also receives support from the New York State Council on the Arts.
