The Laurie Beechman Theatre will continue its new series: "Voices from the Great White Way," which features Broadway talents performing in its intimate venue located in the heart of New York's Theatre District.

This Monday, April 23rd, the Laurie Beechman Theatre will welcome Kristy Cates. Cates is a member of the original Broadway cast of Wicked, and recently returned from a year in Chicago where she played the famous green girl from Oz herself, nightly at the Oriental Theatre.

Cates made her Broadway debut as a member of the original Broadway cast of Wicked and was the original understudy to Idina Menzel.  She also filled in for an injured Stephanie Block for several weeks in Toronto, the first stop of the Wicked National Tour. Recently, Cates returned to New York, following a nearly twelve month run as Elphaba in the Chicago production of the mega-hit. Other New York credits include Princess Ida and Boobs! The Musical. She has also appeared at the St. Louis MUNY, The Lucille Lortel White Barn Theatre, North Bay Opera, The Playhouse on the Green and The Eugene O'Neill Theatre Conference. In January of 2007, Cates presented a series of sold out solo concerts at Metropolis Performing Arts Center in Arlington Heights, IL. Kristy is a graduate of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music where she was the first recipient of the Laurie Beechman Scholarship Award.

Please plan to join us for what will be a memorable evening. There is a $20 cover charge, as well as a $15 food/beverage minimum (there is a full bar and dinner menu available). The Laurie Beechman Theatre is located within The West Bank Café, 407 West 42nd St. (at 9th Ave) and the performance begins at 7pm. For reservations, which are necessary, please call 212 695 6909 between the hours of noon and 6pm, or e-mail beechmantheatre@aol.com.
