Kentwood Players Hosts AS YOU LIKE IT Auditions 4/24, 4/25

By:

Kentwood Players announces auditions for William Shakespeare's comedy "As You Like It" on Saturday, April 24 from 3-6pm and Sunday, April 25 from 6-10pm at the Westchester Playhouse located at 8301 Hindry Avenue in Westchester. The production is directed by Karintha Touton and Jeremy Speed Schwartz, and produced by Adam Dunberger. Performance dates are July 9 to August 14, 2010 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm.

"As You Like It" is a pastoral romance that takes a light-hearted romp into the depths of human identity, desire, and discovery. Rosalind, the daughter of the banished Duke Senior, falls in love with Orlando, the dispossessed son of a wealthy family. When she is banished from the city, a media saturated urban wasteland, by her uncle, Duke Frederick, Rosalind disguises herself as a boy named Ganymede and enters into the forest of Arden with her cousin, Celia, and Touchstone the clown in tow. What ensues is a series of mistaken identities and misguided love triangles all culminating in an eight-way wedding. The comedy of the play is balanced by the wit and insight of the characters, and the deeper themes of gender identity and social disconnect.

The Kentwood Players production of "As You Like It" will take place in a stylized modern setting. The directors request that you be familiar with the characters and prepare a classical monologue, or be prepared to read a monologue from sides. Please bring a headshot, resume, and your appointment calendar with you to the auditions. Advance appointments are not necessary
