"As You Like It" is a pastoral romance that takes a light-hearted romp into the depths of human identity, desire, and discovery. Rosalind, the daughter of the banished Duke Senior, falls in love with Orlando, the dispossessed son of a wealthy family. When she is banished from the city, a media saturated urban wasteland, by her uncle, Duke Frederick, Rosalind disguises herself as a boy named Ganymede and enters into the forest of Arden with her cousin, Celia, and Touchstone the clown in tow. What ensues is a series of mistaken identities and misguided love triangles all culminating in an eight-way wedding. The comedy of the play is balanced by the wit and insight of the characters, and the deeper themes of gender identity and social disconnect. The Kentwood Players production of "As You Like It" will take place in a stylized modern setting.
