Singer Kelly King won the 2013 coveted "Silver Seagull" Award for best international singer at the Viña Del Mar International Song Festival in Chile. The festival has been held annually since 1960 and is considered the most important musical event in the Americas. Organized by the largest television station in the country, Chilevision, King performed her title track, "Keep The Dream Alive", and was awarded Thursday February 28, 2013 with the coveted award while being the underdog of the competition.

Both songwriters of "Keep The Dream Alive", Brian Becvar and Kelly Levesque, submitted the piece a year ago to the competition. Initially, they were not chosen to compete in the finals, however a songwriter from Canada had to back out last minute allowing their entry into the competition. Once in the competition, King had not originally planned to go and sing her song herself. Levesque, currently on tour with Michael Bolton, was to perform the song that she co-wrote, but was unable to leave the tour. King was asked to travel to Chile for the performance and came out strong, winning the award for best singer.

King, born in Atlanta, GA and raised in Nashville, TN, got a jumpstart on her career as a child prodigy by just age 10 and was performing professionally as she has been ever since. Today, Kelly has developed into her own style as she combines her powerful 5 plus octave range, diverse dancing abilities, writing skills and fresh musical sound to wow audiences of every age all over the world. Kelly has performed in the hit Off-Broadway shows, "Hunka Hunka Burning Love", "Our Sinatra" and "Moses" the musical. Since the release of her debut album, "Live The Dream", King has garnered 3 top- 20 Billboard hits.

King will be performing in New York City on Monday March 4, 2013 at 8PM at New World Stages with Marty Thomas Presents DIVA (www.martythomaspresentsdiva.com) alongside Marty Thomas (Wicked, Xanadu), Marissa Rosen (Bedbugs-The Musical, My Big Gay Italian Wedding), and Alexa Green (Wicked LA/San Francisco Companies/SCROOGE The Musical) as they release their first album, "DIVA".
