Michael Cunio (Jersey Boys, Under the Streetlamp) and Katrina Lenk (Once, Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark) will lead the first private industry reading of this new musical at Manhattan Theatre Club Studios on Monday, March 28, at 2pm.

Beginnings reimagines the rarely seen early days of Camelot, post-sword, pre-Grail, in which a newly minted King Arthur struggles for peace in an age of endless war. The show is from a concept by Ryan McCurdy and features a story by McCurdy, Erikka Walsh, and Ellie Pyle, a book by Pyle, and selections from 40 years of music and lyrics by 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Chicago.

Joining Cunio as Arthur and Lenk as Morgan are Josh Davis (Beautiful) as Merlin, Ryan McCurdy (Verona Walls) as Kay, Halle Morse (Mamma Mia!) as Guinevere, Jacob Smith (Doctor Zhivago) as Colgrin/Balduf, and Erikka Walsh (Once) as Nimue. The ensemble includes Mick Bleyer, Christina ?ervenka, Rachel Flynn (Heathers), Ashley Griffin, Evan Harrington (The Robber Bridegroom, Once), Wes Haskell, Stephen Lyons, Jamie Mohamdein, Jacob Owen, and Lauren Patten (Fun Home). The reading will be directed by Ashley Monroe, with music direction by David John Madore and guitar by Marcel Nadal Michelman.
