Two-time Golden Globe winner, Academy Award and Tony Award nominee Kathleen Turner will launch the National Tour of Matthew Lombardo's play HIGH, December 6 - 11 at Boston's Cutler Majestic Theatre.

Turner - who also starred in the Broadway production - tells the Boston Globe that when it closed at the Booth Theatre on April 24, 2011 after just eight performances, she was devestated. "We were all devastated. None of us believed that it was over. We knew this material was too good. No, it was simply not possible for it to end," Turner says.

It's a sentiment not quite matched by Lombardo, who says that he "wasn’t as disappointed as everyone else." The reason, he explains, is that he had always planned to take the show on the road. "I like to think of New York as just another city. The longevity of the play for me is the most important thing."

"I don't think we failed," the playwright adds. "What we hear from the audience is that this show is too important to stop now."

There are no plans to stop the production, Lombardo says, because HIGH has been optioned by director Mark Kohl with Lombardo penning the screenplay, and a West End production is reportedly in the works.

HIGH is produced by Ann Cady Scott & Timothy J. Hampton in association with The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis. The design team includes David Gallo (sets), Jess Goldstein (costumes) John Lasiter (lighting) and Vincent Olivieri (sound & original music).
