KEIGWIN + COMPANY will present Dark Habits, a world premiere choreographed by Artistic Director Larry Keigwin, at The Joyce Theater, March 8 - 13. The evening-length work will be performed to live, original music by electro-acoustic cellist Chris Lancaster and pianist Jerome Begin. Dark Habits, inspired by the worlds of fashion and drama, will be the Company's first work preformed to live music. The Joyce Theater is located at 175 Eighth Avenue at 19th Street.

KEIGWIN + COMPANY dancers include Matthew Baker, Ashley Browne, Aaron Carr, Kristina Hanna, Larry Keigwin, Liz Riga, Ryoji Sasamoto and Gary Schaufeld.

Larry Keigwin and KEIGWIN + COMPANY'S 2010-11 season has included a wide variety of premieres, commissions and special events, beginning in August when Keigwin was named the first artist in residence of the Vail International Dance Festival. The season continued with Keigwin's staging of "Fashion's Night Out: The Show," the opening event of Fashion Week at Lincoln Center and performances at N .Y. City Center's Fall for Dance Festival. In October, Keigwin choreographed the site-specific Bolero Akron, in Ohio.

In San Francisco, Keigwin choreographed a workshop of Tales of the City, starring Betty Buckley, at American Conservatory Theatre. The show will receive its world premiere May 17 - June 19 at ACT, and features music by the Scissor Sisters' Jake Shears and John Garden, a libretto by Jeff Whitty of Avenue Q and direction by Jason Moore of Avenue Q and Shrek.

Keigwin, along with Alexei Ratmansky and Christopher Wheeldon, was commissioned to create a new work for The New York Choreographic Institute's 10th Anniversary celebration.
2011 began with an appearance in the Dance Gotham Festival at the Skirball Center and will be followed by a performance of Keigwin's Elements at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia on January 19 - 22.
Larry Keigwin is artistic director of KEIGWIN + COMPANY, founded in 2003 to create and share provocative, witty and engaging dances. Combining physicality with theatricality, K+C's electrifying brand of contemporary dance samples a variety of mediums and fuses art with entertainment. K+C has performed at The Kennedy Center, The Joyce Theater, Jacob's Pillow, American Dance Festival and more. Keigwin has created 16 dances, including the large-scale choreographic event Bolero and recent acclaimed works such as Runaway (2008), the site-specific Sidewalk (2009) and Bird Watching (2010). Now a centerpiece of K+C's outreach work, Bolero incorporates a cast of community members and dancers into a tableau of a specific demographic or geographical region. Based on the success of Bolero ADF (2007) and Bolero NYC (2007/2009), K+C has developed Bolero Colorado, Bolero Santa Barbara, Bolero Suburbia and most recently, Bolero Akron.

In addition to his work with K+C, recent commissions include Works & Process at the Guggenheim, The Juilliard School, The New York City Ballet's Choreographic Institute and The Martha Graham Dance Company, among many others. This past summer, Keigwin was named the Vail International Dance Festival's first artist in residence, during which time he created and premiered a new work with four of ballet's most prominent stars. He most recently staged the opening event of Fashion Week: "Fashion's Night Out: The Show," which was produced by Vogue and featured over 150 of the industry's top models strutting in formation around the fountain and plaza at Lincoln Center.

In 2004, Dance Magazine named Keigwin in their annual list of "25 To Watch." Keigwin's other choreographic credits include work with the pop band Fischerspooner, comedian Murray Hill, and as an associate choreographer for both The Radio City Rockettes and the Off-Broadway musical The Wild Party. Keigwin has also created Keigwin Kabaret, a fusion of modern dance, vaudeville, and burlesque presented by The Public Theater at Joe's Pub and by Symphony Space. He is a co-founder of the Green Box Arts Festival in Green Mountain Falls, Colorado, a multi-disciplinary festival designed to increase cultural opportunities in the region, as well as provide creative residencies to young, emerging choreographers.

Major supporters of KEIGWIN + COMPANY 2010 - 11 season include the National Endowment for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, The Greenwall Foundation, The O'Donnell-Green Music & Dance Foundation and The Royce Family Fund.

KEIGWIN + COMPANY will perform at The Joyce Theater, 175 Eighth Avenue (at 19th Street), from March 8 - 13, according to the following schedule: Tuesday-Wednesday at 7:30pm; Thursday-Saturday at 8pm; Sunday at 2pm & 7:30pm. There will be a free, post-performance "Dance Chat" on Wednesday, March 9. Tickets range from $10 to $75 and can be arranged by calling JoyceCharge at 212-242-0800 or online at Joyce.org.
