Unanimous critical acclaim has poured in for The Union:
"Mr. Russell, at age 68, is back with his talent intact. His twangy voice is strong, his three solo compositions first-rate, as are the songs he wrote with Mr. John and Mr. John's longtime lyricist Bernie Taupin. Which leads to another reason "The Union" is such a treat: It's a new album by Mr. John, who contributes to every track, including several on which he sings alone. The seven new John/Taupin compositions are at least comparable to anything they've done in decades. Elton John is back, too." The Wall Street Journal
"Stepping out of each other's way, the best collaborators break their own patterns and surprise themselves. That happens for Elton John and Leon Russell, the stars of this rambling, charming album...." The Los Angeles Times
