Jewish Museum to Host Annual Hanukkah Family Day, 11/24

By:

The Jewish Museum's annual Hanukkah Family Day, a fun-filled day of activities, will take place on Sunday, November 24 from 11:30am to 4pm. Highlights of the day include two performances by the popular kids' rock band, Yosi and The Superdads; Hanukkah-themed art workshops, including edible cookie art in celebration of "Thanksgivukkah"; and family gallery tours of the museum's world-renowned Hanukkah lamp collection. This event is free with Museum admission.

Additional events on November 24 will feature the Menurkey, a Hanukkah lamp in the shape of a turkey designed by 9-year-old New Yorker Asher Weintraub. Hanukkah and Thanksgiving coincide this year, an extremely rare occurrence, and the Menurkey commemorates this once-in-a-lifetime event. Weintraub will be at the Museum to sign Menurkeys at 11:30AM, along with several members of the Dirty Sock Funtime Band, who will be on hand to play an unplugged version of their new song, "Hanukkah, O Hanukkah, Come Light the Menurkey" and other holiday tunes as musical accompaniment to the signing event.

The November 24 program is for children ages 3 and up. Adults are asked to accompany their children. For further information regarding family programs, the public may visit the Museum's website at TheJewishMuseum.org/specialfamilydays or call 212.423.3200. The Jewish Museum is located at 1109 Fifth Avenue at 92nd Street, New York City.
