NEWSIES and SMASH star Jeremy Jordan has just Tweeted that he is indeed going to be portraying the lead male role of Jamie in the new feature film adaptation of the Off-Broadway musical THE LAST FIVE YEARS by Jason Robert Brown.

Jordan writes, "Its official!! I will be playing Jamie in The Last five Years film!! Literally a dream come true :)"

He joins previously confirmed actress Anna Kendrick, who will portray Cathy.

This Broadway-friendly casting is certainly a dream come true for fans of the innovative two-hander!

The Richard LaGravenese-directed film is planning to begin production later this year but no further details or official confirmation has been given at this time.

In a recent interview, LaGravanese expressed plans to keep the structure - following a relationship from beginning to end from contrasting time-line perspectives; that of a successful novelist, Jamie, and his strugging actress paramour, Cathy - relatively much like it is onstage in this new movie musical version, complete with the two extended monologues of the main characters featured in the celebrated piece (as well as, assumedly, the majority of the masterful musical material penned by Tony Award-winner Brown).
