Jeff Houkal Wins Best New Male Performer of the Year from L.A. Connections Comedy Theatre
Actor Jeff Houkal was chosen from dozens of actors by LA Connection Comedy Theatre owner Kent Skov for the Best New Male Performer of the Year at the troupe's annual party on Wednesday, December 7. Jeff is a member of the Burbank-based improvisation company, which was founded in 1977, and whose Hall of Fame includes comedy greats such as Will Ferrell, Matthew Perry and Hank Azaria.
While those who are familiar with Jeff's work know his affinity for comedy, many mistakenly limit his range to hard-edged henchmen and dramatic bad-guys due to his intimidating height, weight-lifter build, deep baritone voice and intense gaze. While Jeff does enjoy fitness training and stunt-work, he also finds pleasure in making people laugh.
The LA Connection Comedy Theatre's mission has been to inspire, train develop and nurture talent of all ages; to perfect the art of improvisation. Over the years, they have created a safe environment of trust, support and artistic freedom for their community of performers to grow and showcase their talents, both individually, and in a group dynamic.
Jeff can be seen regularly on the LA Connection Comedy Theatre stage on Saturdays at 8:00 PM, performing with Temporary Insanity.
