Ars Nova continues its acclaimed UNCHARTED series with Janice Lowe in concert performing songs from her musical This Esther as well as other musical stories. Directed by Charles E. Drew, Jr., Uncharted: Janice Lowe will be on Sunday, May 1 at 7 PM at Ars Nova (511 West 54th Street). All tickets are $15.

This Esther is a rock-r&b musical based on the biblical Book of Esther. Told as a funky Purim Carnival of Life, this is a story of hidden miracles and a brave young Jewish queen who risks her life and throne to save her people. Lowe will be performing with Sean Cazades, The Jones Twins, Anika Larsen, Jonathan Portera, Sheri Sanders, Aurelia Williams, and Cid Williams.

JANICE LOWE has arranged vocals for the bands Rhathm Thang, Apples, Next Level and W/o A Net. She composed the theme for "The Kelly Bowers Show", an HBO pilot and is composer of the musicals Somewhere in Texas, Alice Underground and This Esther (book and lyrics by Charles E. Drew, Jr), as well as Sit-In at the Five & Dime (book and lyrics by Marjorie Duffield) and Lil Budda (text and lyrics by Stephanie L. Jones.) Her works have received developmental residencies at Voice and Vision Theater, The Eugene O'Neill Musical Theater Conference and NYU's New Voices Workshop in Lewes, Delaware. In 2002, Lil Budda was presented at National Alliance for Musical Theater's New Works Festival and at The O'Neill. Lowe was a 2003-04 Jonathan Larson Memorial Musical Theater Fellow. She is co-founder of both absolute theatre company and the dark room.
