Hugh Jackman will be returning to Oz. The Daily Telegraph has reported that the star is planning to unveil his one-man extravaganza at the Sydney Opera House in Australia after its previously-announced Las Vegas engagement.

The as-of-now untitled solo show will feature Jackman as a song-and-dance man, backed by a chorus of dancers and by elaborate effects. The shows will showcase both contemporary and older classic numbers.

The production would come to Sydney in 2006, and would possibly open in January. Jackman is currently in Sydney to film TV ads for Foxtel, and has been in meetings with promoters Michael Coppel and Paul Dainty. Jackman would produce the spectacular alongside his American business partner John Palermo.

Jackman is equally popular as a superstar of stage and screen. He won the 2004 Best Actor in a Musical Tony for his tour de force role as fellow Aussie Peter Allen in The Boy from Oz; he also hosted the same Tonys ceremony. He won the 1998 Olivier for Best Actor in a Musical for his Curly in the Royal National Theatre's Oklahoma! A musical theatre veteran back in Australia, he played Joe Gillis in the 1996 production of Sunset Boulevard in Melbourne, and Gaston in 1995's Beauty and the Beast.

The charismatic Jackman came to big screen prominence as Wolverine in X-Men; he has since appeared in its sequel (and is filming a third). Other screen credits include the upcoming The Fountain, Van Helsing, Kate and Leopold, Swordfish and Someone Like You.
