JACKSON HEIGHTS 3AM Opens in Jackson Heights 1/13; Opens 1/27 at Queens Theatre

Eight playwrights combined with director, Ari Laura Kreith, in creating a new work inspired by Jackson Heights (Queens) in the wee hours of the morning.  Livery cab drivers, police officers, sex workers, Colombian drag queens, Bangladeshi insomniacs, expatriate ER doctors, Ecuadorian waitresses and a baby awake in its stroller are among the characters whose experiences are chronicled in this multilingual (English, Spanish, Bengali) production which features a multicultural ensemble cast of 24. 

This is the third piece in a trilogy inspired by Jackson Heights, the most diverse neighborhood in the world.  This segment focuses on people whose stories often go untold.  Gathered are the stories that inspire this piece through late-night research and interviews in the neighborhood. Through a unique developmental process, scenes are weaved by multiple authors into a unified whole.

The playwright voices include Jenny Lyn Bader, J. Stephen Brantley, Ed Cardona, Jr, Jennifer Gibbs, Les Hunter, Tom Miller, Melissa Tien and Joy Tomasko.

Performance schedule at Queens Theatre is as follows: January 27-February 5, Friday at 7:30pm, Saturday at 8pm, Sunday at 3pm.  Tickets for this special production are $20.  Box office number for information and tickets is 718 760-0064.
