Tonight, August 19th, the band Sky-Pony will explode onto the stage of Joe's Pub like a herd of stampeding wild horses. They'll serve up a healthy dose of original tunes inspired in equal parts by indie-rock and good old-fashioned American Songbook balladry.

Expect a rollicking live show incorporating costumes, backup singers, choreography, and projections. It all goes down tonight, August 19th at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette Street, New York, NY). Doors at 7pm, show at 7:30pm. Tickets $12 and available in advance through www.joespub.com.

Sky-Pony is a Brooklyn based band led by theater-world couple Lauren Worsham (a singer/actress who's appeared in City Center's Where's Charley and City Opera's Candide among others) and Kyle Jarrow (Obie Award winning playwright/composer known for A Very Merry Unauthorized Children's Scientology Pageant, Hostage Song, also of the band The Fabulous Entourage).

The New York Times said Lauren Worsham should have been nominated for a Tony Award for her role in Where's Charley. The Village Voice has written, "Kyle Jarrow's music commands attention." When their powers combine, Sky-Pony is the result. Sort of like Captain Planet, but sexier.

The band also features the talents of guitarist Kevin Wunderlich, drummer Perry Silver, bassist Eric Day, backup singers Jessi Suzuki and Megan Stern, and cellist David Blasher. For the Joe's Pub set, Sky-Pony is proud to welcome a special guest horn section featuring Matt Owens of Soulive and his brother Jimmy Owens—as well as originally-commissioned projection art by the Krovatin Brothers.
