In Scena! Italian Theater Festival NY Announces Fall Edition, Today – October 3, 2017

Kairos Italy Theater (KIT), the preeminent Italian theater company in New York, and its Italian partner KIT Italia, will present a special fall edition of its yearly festival IN SCENA! ITALIAN THEATER FESTIVAL NY, which marked its fifth edition in May 2017.

Festival founder Laura Caparrotti notes: "Since 2013, In Scena! has been bringing contemporary Italian theater to all five NYC boroughs with our yearly festival. In that time, we've presented dozens of American premieres of multi-award winning Italian productions, and opened up a new channel of artistic communication between Italian artists and local NYC audiences in all five boroughs. After celebrating our fifth edition in May 2017, we decided we just couldn't wait a whole year. The 2017 fall edition will bring back to the New York stage - devoting special attention to Universities and Senior Communities - two of the biggest hits from our latest festival for encore presentations."

The fall edition of In Scena! will feature repeat engagements of "Sweet Home Albania - Albania Casa Mia" by and with Aleksandros Memetaj, and "My Idea - La Mia Idea, Memoria di Joe Zangara" by Ernesto Orrico, with Ernesto Orrico and Massimo Garritano.

Following the festival's fall edition, the sixth full edition of In Scena! will take place in May 2018, and it will inaugurate a still broader collaboration between the festival and its local partners. It will feature brand new categories including Social Issues, LGBTQ, Women, Children's Theater, as well as the fifth edition of the Mario Fratti playwriting award.

In Scena! is produced by Kairos Italy Theater, presented by Laura Caparrotti (Founding Artistic Director), Donatella Codonesu (Associate Director) and Carlotta Brentan (Executive Producer.) "Sweet home albania" - Albania casa mia

Awards: Festival di Resistenza Museo Cervi, Gattatico - Bando Festival Avanguardie 2030, Bologna

Aleksandros was six months old when his parents - among many others - decided to leave Albania for Italy. This is the story of a child who will grow up away from his country, and of a father who will make great sacrifices for his family.

"MY IDEA" - La mia idea. Memoria di Joe Zangara
written and directed by Ernesto Orrico, with Ernesto Orrico, Massimo Garritano at the bouzuchi and at the dobro - Zahir Production (Calabria)

A first-person account of the true story of Giuseppe "Joe" Zangara, an Italian immigrant who tried to assassinate US President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. At 33 years old, on March 20th, 1933, Zangara is executed by electric chair.
