ImprovBoston has been the heart and soul of Boston comedy for over 30 years. With over 20 shows each week and a variety of community outreach programs, the nonprofit theater is an ever-evolving cultural mainstay, featuring New England's premiere comedy talent.

Downton IB: Season 2

On Friday nights ImprovBoston becomes Downton: the British manor we all know and love. Coattails, cufflinks, accents and charged emotions lead the way in this hilarious ensemble show that parodies characters and themes from the popular PBS/BBC series, Downton Abbey. Drawing inspiration from audience suggestions, veteran improvisers craft an engaging (and entirely off-the-cuff) laugh-filled episode teeming with British extravagance, drama and charming class warfare.

Artistic Director Mike Descoteaux shares, "This impressively well-observed show delivers the subtlety and pretense of the series we all love, but with laughs." He continues, "audiences keep asking, how could that possibly have been improvised?" To find out, many audience members return several times each run.

Travel back to the 1900s in Yorkshire County on Friday nights at 10pm from January 3-February 7. Tickets are $18, $14 students at the door and available online here: http://www.eventbrite.com/e/downton-ib-season-2-tickets-9814803341

Mainstage, the cornerstone of ImprovBoston's comedic talent, welcomes its new cast of improvisers. Armed with extensive combined comedy arts experience, the 2014 Mainstage ensemble showcases current and future rockstars of the Boston comedy scene. The new Mainstage cast is: Ben Scurria, Brad Taylor, Deana Criess, Ellie Race-Moore, Holly Tarnower, Jenna O'Brien, Ken Breese, Matt McLaughlin, Mickey McCauley, Mike Morrell, Misch Whitaker, Natalie Cunha and Nate Lopez.

As the heart of ImprovBoston, Mainstage performs its signature improv "freestyle," creating an ever-evolving show that seamlessly blends games, scenes, music and audience participation--all made up entirely on the spot by some of the best professional improvisers in New England. Mainstage shows are Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm. Open run. Tickets are $18 and available at the door or online here.
