Due to the overwhelming demand for tickets, the Guthrie has devised an innovative solution to limited seating for Ian McKellen's Global Voices appearance on Monday, October 8 at 7PM.

Esteemed stage and screen actor Ian McKellen will join Guthrie Director Joe Dowling as this year's Global Voices speaker on the Wurtele Thrust Stage. Tickets for this event, priced from $35 - $50, are sold out, but the Guthrie is now offering tickets to a simulcast of McKellen's appearance.

Tickets, priced at $20, are now on sale for seating in the McGuire Proscenium Stage, where the audience will see a live simulcast of McKellen and Dowling on a large screen. Tickets are available through the Guthrie Theater Box Office 612-377-2224 or toll-free 877-44-STAGE. Tickets for this Global Voices event will not be available for purchase online.

McKellen, winner of the Tony, Olivier, Screen Actors Guild and Golden Globe Awards, is appearing at the Guthrie in the Royal Shakespeare Company's productions of King Lear and The Seagull, October 5 – 14. The Guthrie is proud to be one of only three U.S. venues on the Royal Shakespeare Company's tour. The addition of these 700 seats for the Global Voices simulcast is an effort by the Guthrie to provide an affordable way for the many fans of Ian McKellen to be a part of the RSC's visit to the Guthrie.

Global Voices, the Guthrie's distinguished annual forum, brings world-renowned artists to our theater for dialogue, insight and inspiration. Past Global Voices speakers include Mikhail Baryshnikov, Edward Albee, Stephen Sondheim, Anna Deveare Smith and Tom Stoppard.
