'I Spy' Star Robert Culp Dies at 79

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that actor Robert Culp, best known to television audiences for his role in the 1960's series 'I Spy' opposite Bill Cosby, died on Wednesday morning following a fall at his Hollywood home. Culp was 79.

Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Robert Culp appeared in various stage productions including the 1957 Broadway production of 'A Clearing in the Woods', 'He Who Gets Slapped', and 'The Prescott Proposals'. Culp starred in a slew of films including 'Santas' Slay', 'Spy Hard', 'Dark Summer', 'The Gladiator', 'Shaft the Encounter', 'Hickey & Boggs', 'The Pelican Brief', and most notably he played the role of 'Bob' in the 1969 film 'Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice'. Culp's television credits include 'Roots: The Next Generations', 'The Greatest American Hero', 'Trackdown', 'The Golden Girls', 'Wings', and most recently he was seen in 'Everybody Loves Raymond' playing 'Warren', Ray's father-in-law. Culp was also a director and screenwriter. He wrote for 'The Rifleman', 'Trackdown' and 'I Spy' amongst other television shows. For his work in 'I Spy', Culp received three Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe nomination.
