The Rewind Show is a vision we have had for as long as we have been in the business of night clubs and event planning. We are tired of the same concept that every night-club in NYC has been stuck with over the years and think that it's time to change the way to party! As we all know nothing can compare to a live performance and therefore we have created the Rewind Show! We want to bring an experience like no other by combining the live music of the 80's Rock & Roll era along with the best DJ's spinning the present hits. Every Saturday night, the Highline Ballroom will operate as a high-end night club to let people experience the Rewind Show.

Ladysmith Black Mambazo first came together in the early 1960s under the gentle guidance of sweet-voiced Joseph Shabalala. His inspiration for the group came to him in a dream in which a choir of children sang and danced. Shabalala soon transferred that dream to real life when he formed Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Ladysmith Black Mambazo is part of the time-honored tradition of South African Zulu male choral music called isicathamiya (derived from the Zulu word meaning "to walk or step on one's toes lightly") The roots of isicathamiya goes back to the turn of the twentieth century when large groups of males left their homelands and families to find work and lived in all-male hostels in the cities and near the mines. These migrants didn't form football teams or the like, but instead turned towards singing as a means to stay close to their roots Ladysmith Black Mambazo released their first album in 1973. They have since produced over 30 albums since that time, including their collaboration on Paul Simon's "Graceland," in 1986. "Graceland" was one of the best selling albums of the eighties.

Thursday, February 4
ANTI-FLAG
Opening: Aiden, Cancer Bats, Star f-ing Hipsters
File Under: Rock
Doors at 5:30pm, Show at 6:30pm
$16
Making their debut at a local Pittsburgh radio station in 1993, Anti-Flag got together for the sake of responding to their disgust at religion, nationalism, and fascism. Justin Sane (vocals/guitar), Andy Flag (bass/vocals), and Pat Thetic (drums) bopped around their hometown much to the dismay of skinheads while recruiting a following who proudly wore torn-up upside-down flags as patches. In 1997, after releasing a handful of singles, opening for their idols the U.K. Subs, the Exploited, and the Circle Jerks, and briefly touring the East Coast -- which led to the departure of Andy Flag -- Die for the Government was released, and 20,000 copies, four bassists, and four North American tours later, Anti-Flag gained their reputation for recapturing the old-school ethics of punk: fast, loud, obnoxious, and anti-everything that ends with an "ism." More recently, Anti-Flag signed to RCA, and in October 2007 the band released A Benefit for Victims of Violent Crime on their own A-F label, an EP (with a combination of both new songs and live tracks) whose proceeds went to the Center for Victims of Violence and Crime, a decision made after Chris 2 lost his sister to homocide earlier that year.
