Highline Ballroom Announces Upcoming Events Through 5/9

The Highline Ballroom is located at 431 West 16th Street between 9th Avenue and 10th Avenue. Tickets may be purchased through Ticketweb, online at ticketweb.com or at the Highline Box Office from noon until doors close at 866-468-7619. The Highline Ballroom is a full-scale restaurant. The menu is American Continental with a Southern flair. The Highline also has a full bar with all premier liquors and domestic and international cold beer, and serves a full menu at all concerts. A $10 food and/or beverage minimum is standard for table seating during shows. Unless otherwise noted, all shows are suitable for all ages and offer general admission seating. Seating for all shows is first come, first seated; we do not take advance table reservations, except where noted as a condition of a VIP ticket. Incomplete parties cannot be seated. The Rewind Show is a vision we have had for as long as we have been in the business of night clubs and event planning. We are tired of the same concept that every night-club in NYC has been stuck with over the years and think that it's time to change the way to party! As we all know nothing can compare to a live performance and therefore we have created the Rewind Show! We want to bring an experience like no other by combining the live music of the 80's Rock & Roll era along with the best DJ's spinning the present hits. San Francisco's Conspiracy of Beards is men's choir from that performs gritty, original arrangements of the songs of Leonard Cohen. This a Capella group has had a string of acclaimed performances at Bay Area venues, including the Cafe du Nord, the Great American Music Hall, and The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Transforming Cohen's simple melodies into complex 4- and 5-part harmonies, the group achieves a sound that is both robust and tender. Their unique arrangements are influenced by indie rock, jazz, gospel, barbershop, classical and even doo-wop. Using the genius of Cohen's words, the Beards inspire their audience members to ponder romance, politics, sex, longing and spirituality while enjoying an intriguingly wry delivery of great songs.

As a prelude to the release of his bluegrass and acoustic roots inspired new album by the same name, singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley will be playing the Highline Ballroom. The show will be highlighted by the scorching acoustic musicianship of Bentley's backing band the Travelin' McCourys and Texas based singer/songwriter Hayes Carll in the opening slot.

Clipse is a Virginia-based hip hop duo. Formed by brothers Malice (born Gene Thornton in 1972, in The Bronx, New York) and Pusha T (born Terrence Thornton in 1977, in The Bronx, New York) in 1992, the group is affiliated with multi-platinum production team The Neptunes. Clipse began its career in music in 1993 when the Thornton brothers met Pharrell Williams, one half of the production team The Neptunes. Impressed with their lyrical talents, Williams formed a working relationship with the duo.

The Glitch Mob is a four man musical collaboration with roots from San Francisco and Los Angeles. What initially started as a joke/loose affiliation soon stuck as edIT, Boreta, Kraddy and Ooah found themselves frequently playing the same shows and eventually tag teaming during back to back time slots. This eventually led to the four man sonic onslaught of ferocious bass, head cracking drums and infinitely complex rhythms. A proverbial Voltron effect on stage. Taking influences from hip-hop, experimental, and dance genres, The Glitch Mob have crafted their own form of futuristic dance floor hip-hop that has been "slaying" audiences world wide.

Beneath the colorful pop exterior is a multi-layered musical family of real-life mom (Lisa), dad (Billy), and daughter (Emily), whose combined talent makes up the nationally known, TV friendly family band called "Laughing Pizza". Their music videos, or "Pizza Breaks", are seen daily on PBS in millions of homes around the country. Lisa and Billy are award winning song-writers and are both classically trained musicians, having attended Juilliard and Berklee. They are also both former music teachers. Their fourteen year old daughter, Emily, is a multi-instrumentalist who plays bass, drums, guitar, piano and flute. Together they create fun, inspiring (and educational) music for the whole family!

Long acclaimed as one of the world's most creative and intense guitar players, Mike Keneally's talents as a vocalist, songwriter, arranger, producer and multi-instrumentalist are nearly unequalled in rock music. Keneally has released 19 albums of his original music since 1992, and has built a body of work of remarkable inventiveness and originality. Keneally played in Frank Zappa's last touring band, performing as a vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist. He's appeared on many Zappa albums, and has also recorded or performed with Robert Fripp, Dethklok, Wayne Kramer, Sting, Kevin Gilbert, Steve Vai, The Loud Family, Henry Kaiser, Michael Manring, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Andy Prieboy, Mullmuzzler, The Persuasions and many others. Keneally is known for his innovative, unpredictable live shows.

COMMON will star opposite Queen Latifah and Paula Patton in the May 14, 2010 release of "JUST WRIGHT" for FOX Searchlight, opening in theatres nation-wide. In addition to his music and film pursuits, COMMON also offers a younger generation a better understanding of self respect and love, utilizing the cultural relevance of hip hop in the children books he has written. He is currently in the studio working on his upcoming album The Believer.

Michael Monroe has long been at the forefront of breaking music barriers. The Finnish musician and multi-instrumentalist rose to fame as the singer for HANOI ROCKS and has served as the frontman for many all-star collaborations including GUNS ‘N ROSES and DEMOLITION 23 with Little Steven. Coming off the Hanoi Rocks reunion from 2002-2008, Michael returns with his highly anticipated new group. Together they will perform an assortment of material ranging from Hanoi Rocks and Demolition 23 classics, Michael Monroe solo favorites and three to four brand new songs the band has written over the last few months.
