Resonance Ensemble (Eric Parness, Artistic Director; Rachel Reiner, Managing Director; Dori Thompson, Chairman of the Board) will celebrate its 9th season with a benefit reading of Jonathan Tolins' The Forgotten Woman on Monday, April 4, 2011. A cocktail reception begins the evening at 6:00PM, followed by the 7:30PM reading at The Brandeis House (12 East 77th Street).

The Forgotten Woman follows Margaret Meier, a gifted soprano on the verge of a major operatic career. When a handsome reporter shows up at her Chicago hotel room, this anything-but-diva-like diva is forced to grapple with every unflattering aspect of her life; her less-than passionate marriage, her child, her ambition, her weight, and the price she must pay in this most demanding and irrational art form.

The Forgotten Woman will feature Ashlie Atkinson (Fat Pig and TV's "Rescue Me"), David Harbour (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Tony Award® Nominee, The Coast of Utopia, and the films Quantum of Solace and Revolutionary Road), Hunter Ryan Herdlicka (A Little Night Music), Michael Rupert (Sweet Charity Tony Award Winner, City of Angels, Falsettos, Ragtime, Legally Blonde, etc.) and Michael Urie (The Temperamentals and TV's "Ugly Betty"). The Honorary Event Chair is Broadway Producer and Actress Jana Robbins (Producer of Ragtime and Little Women, Performer in Gypsy, etc.).

Jonathan Tolins is a playwright and screenwriter. Broadway: The Twilight of the Golds. Off-Broadway: If Memory Serves, The Last Sunday in June, and Secrets of the Trade. His film work, with screenwriting partner Seth Bass, includes The Twilight of the Golds starring Brendan Fraser and Faye Dunaway, and Martian Child starring John Cusack and Amanda Peet. Television work includes "Night Rap" on HBO, "Queer As Folk" on Showtime (first season, also co-producer), the 2000 and 2002 Academy Awards, and the 2003 Tony Awards produced by Gary Smith and starring Hugh Jackman. He acted as script consultant on the European tour of Walking with Dinosaurs: The Arena Spectacular, and co-wrote The Divine Millennium Tour and The Showgirl Must Go On for Bette Midler. He has written articles for Opera News, TheaterWeek, and Time Magazine, and is a contributor to the Huffington Post.
