Henry Cole and his Afro-Beat Collective will celebrate the release of Cole's debut album ROOTS BEFORE BRANCHES with a concert at Joe's Pub on March 20th at 9 p.m.

Established on the jazz scene but breaking out his own compositions for the first time, quicksilver Puerto Rican drummer Henry Cole and his Afro-Beat Collective are celebrating the release of Cole's debut album, Roots Before Branches. The ensemble shows how Fela Kuti's legacy can unite the diverse Caribbean sounds of Cole's island home, and how jazz can revel in the rootsy sounds of bomba and plena.

Henry Cole has backed Grammy winner David Sanchez, backed Miguel Zenon and performed the Winter Jazz Fest with The Fabian Almazan Trio.
