New Line Records' soundtrack to the hit musical comedy Hairspray was the #1 Top Independent Album of the year on Billboard's 2007 Year-End Charts.

The Hairspray soundtrack spent nine consecutive weeks in the top 10 of the Billboard Top 200 chart after its July 10 release and was recently certified Platinum by the RIAA, selling more than 1 million copies in the US. The album also received a 2008 Grammy nomination for Best Soundtrack Recording.

The New Line Cinema film Hairspray has grossed more than $200 million at the worldwide box office – making it the third highest grossing musical of all time.  In addition, Hairspray has earned numerous accolades this awards season including: 3 Golden Globe nominations including Best Picture – Musical or Comedy; a Screen Actors Guild nomination for Outstanding Performance By A Cast In A Motion Picture; and 2 Critics Choice Awards (Best Acting Ensemble and Best Young Actress – Nikki Blonsky) from the Broadcast Film Critics Association.
