HAIRSPRAY's Blonsky to Star in New ABC Show 'Huge' by WICKED's Holzman

Multiple outlets are reporting that HAIRSPRAY's Nikki Blonsky will star on a new ABC Family TV series - 'Huge'. The show is said to be a mix of GLEE and UGLY BETTY and will take place at Wellness Canyon, a weight loss camp where Blonsky is sent.

Also appearing in the show will be David Hasselhoff's daughter Hayley and Jason Eckhouse's son Zander along with Andrew Caldwell.

"Huge" is based on a book by Sasha Paley and was written by "My So-Called Life" creator and WICKED bookwriter Winnie Holzman and her daughter, Savannah Dooley.

At the age of 17 Nikki Blonsky shot to stardom playing Tracy Turnblad opposite John Travolta in the hit movie musical HAIRSPRAY. Since HAIRSPRAY, Nikki starred in the Lifetime movie QUEEN SIZED and in the film HAROLD. Nikki was born and raised in Great Neck, Long Island, New York. Nikki received her dramatic and musical training at Great Neck South High School, which is a four time Grammy Foundation Signature School. Some of Nikki’s high school credits include Madame Tanardeau in LES MISERABLES, Mrs. Lovett in SWEENY TODD, Kate in KISS ME KATE, Rebecca Hillicker in THE LARAMIE PROJECT and the title role in Bizet’s CARMEN.
