Neurotica, David Gurland's tribute to the Material Girl, will return for a semi-open-ended run of Friday nights starting October 14th at 8 PM at Ace of Clubs (under Acme Eats on 9 great Jones between Broadway and Lafayette).

Produced with Spin Cycle, the show "hitches a ride through the music and musings of Madonna Louise Ciccone Richie." Premiering in May 2005, the show had a successful reprise at the Encore! in August. Neurotica "covers twenty of Madonna's hit songs from the early 80's through the present, with many surprises along the way." In addition to the arrangements and musical direction, MAC award-winning songwriter/singer/instrumentalist Michael Holland will play guitar and piano for Neurotica, with Gurley Show veterans Jerry Smith (percussion) and Marco Brehm (bass) also featured. Rob Maitner (who has a tenor range) and
Jonathan Tomaselli will respectively replace Karen Mack and David Boyd as the Neurotica back-up vocalists.

Gurland's accolades have included 4 MAC Award nominations, the MAC/Hanson Award, a Gay and Lesbian American Music Award Nomination, and three Bistro Awards, one of which recognized his first CD, released in 1999. Gurland has appeared at The Cutting Room, The Bitter End, Town Hall, CB's Gallery, The Living Room, Don't Tell Mama, The Duplex, and Fez, as well as out of town venues like Odettes in New Hope, The Gardenia in LA, the Manor in NJ and Twiggs in San Diego.

The doors at the opening night performance of Neurotica will open at 7:30 PM, and drinks will be available. Admission is $15, and is payable in cash at the door. For more information, visit www.davidgurland.com.
