A trio of Broadway leading ladies will trill showtunes at Carnegie Hall (57th St. and Seventh Ave.). Debbie Gravitte, Christiane Noll and Jan Horvath will join forces with the New York Pops for a concert called Broadway: The 20th Century.
Skitch Henderson will conduct the Pops at the concert, which will begin at 8 PM on October 21st.Gravitte received a 1989 Tony Award for her performance(s) in Jerome Robbins' Broadway. She recently played the earthy Matron "Mama" Morton inChicago, and her previous Broadway credits include Ain't Broadway Grand, Les Miserables, Zorba, Blues in the Night, Perfectly Frank and They're Playing Our Song. Her solo albums include The Alan Menken Album and The MGM Album.Noll was most recently featured in the out-of-town tryout of The Mambo Kings (the Broadway opening of the show was postponed indefinitely). She rose to fame as Emma in Jekyll and Hyde, and also appeared on Broadway in It Ain't Nothin' But the Blues and at Encores! in Out of This World. She also appeared in national tours ofGrease, City of Angels and Miss Saigon, and her solo albums are A Broadway Love Story, Live at the Westbank Café and The Ira Gershwin Album.
Horvath last appeared on Broadway in 3 Penny Opera, and was among the original cast of The Phantom of the Opera. She also appeared in the 1986 revival of Sweet Charity and in the 1984 revival of Oliver! She played Grizabella in a national tour of Cats, and has starred in regional productions of Evita, Man of La Mancha, South Pacific and Barnum.Tickets to Broadway: The 20th Century range from $24 to $95.
