Gerhard Siegel, Jill Grove Withdraw From MET's Der Ring des Nibelungen

Due to illness, Gerhard Siegel has withdrawn from the role of Mime, and Jill Grove has withdrawn from the roles of Erda and the First Norn in Wagner's four-opera cycle, Der Ring des Nibelungen, this season.

Robert Brubaker will sing Mime in Siegfried on April 18 mat., 30, and May 7.

Dennis Petersen will sing Mime in Das Rheingold on April 23, 27, and May 4.

Wendy White, who was already scheduled to sing Erda in Das Rheingold on April 23, will now also sing the role on April 27 and May 4. She will also sing Erda in Siegfried on April 18 mat., 30, and May 7. White will also sing the role of First Norn in Götterdämmerung on April. 25 mat, May 2, and 9.

This past Saturday, April 11 mat., Gary Lehman sang Siegmund in Die Walküre for the first time in his career, replacing Johan Botha, who was ill.
