Kids and parents will be able to enjoy Puss in Boots, Cinderella, Aladdin, and The Little Mermaid every weekend at Galli Theater between March and June.  Shows on Saturdays are followed by a one-hour after show workshop for the kids.

PUSS IN BOOTS

March 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25, and 31 at 2 p.m.

April 1 at 2 p.m.

The only thing the Miller’s Youngest Son inherits is a simple cat, but no ordinary cat is he.  He can talk, he’s witty, and he’s got big plans.  Soon the Miller’s Son finds himself enjoying adventures, wealth and marriage to a beautiful princess.

CINDERELLA
April 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, and 29 at 2 p.m.

Underlying this story about a pure-hearted girl who loses her mother is the concept of bullying. Cinderella is constantly ridiculed and bullied, just as many children are today.  But in the world of theater and the Galli method of acting, this may not be such a horrible thing.

ALADDIN

May 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, and 27 at 2 p.m.

In this adaption of the Middle-Eastern folk tale about Aladdin -  a poor boy who suddenly gets to possess a wonder lamp that can fulfill all of his wishes -  kids are invited to interact with the actors during this musical show.  Of course Aladdin wishes to marry the princess but at first he needs to fulfill some dangerous tasks, and has to overcome the wicked magician.  The play is full of colorful costumes and oriental music.

THE LITTLE MERMAID

June 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24, and 30 at 2 p.m.

July 1 at 2 p.m.

In this adaptation of the original Hans Christian Anderson story a young mermaid gives up her life under the sea to gain a human soul and the love of a human prince.  The wicked Sea Witch gives her human legs in exchange for her beautiful voice.  But how can she now express her love?

THE AFTER SHOW WORKSHOP

On Saturdays the play is followed by a one-hour acting workshop for the kids who are encouraged to dress up in costumes, and act out their favorite fairy tale characters.  The workshop is followed by a mini performance for the adults.  "Galli’s Fairytale Theater is a perfect place to bring your children and make them feel comfortable about the stage, the experience of theater, and maybe even the art of being in it,” said Carol Cain, Managing Editor of NY Metropolista.

ABOUT GALLI’S THEATER WORK

The Galli Theater communicates important social issues through modern adaptations of fairy tales from around the world.  “The plays highlight their symbols and help to illuminate wisdom that is highly relevant in today’s society.  They awaken a sense of liveliness in audiences and actors alike that can help reveal the genuine person and his inner vision and power, thus celebrating childhood,” said Tatjana Maya, MD, Founder of Galli Theater New York.  Galli achieves this mission through its main stage productions, educational programs and its Dr. Fairytale Program:
