Frank Langella to Star in Two Upcoming Feature Films

Variety reports that Tony Award-winner Frank Langella will star in the new independent thriller On the Hook, as well as in the drama Starting Out in the Evening.

Langella, who recently won the Tony for his performance as Richard Nixon in Frost/Nixon, will star alongside Elliott Gould and Laura Harring.  Linda Moran and Rene Bastian of Belladonna Productions will produce the film. In On the Hook, Langella "will play an energy-biz exec exposing his company's practices with the help of a private investigator played by Gould."  It will feature a screenplay by Richard Ledes and Alan Didier-Weill; Ledes directs.  It will begin shooting in New York this summer.

In Starting Out in the Evening, Langella will play "a writer who embarks on an unusual relationship with a young graduate student played by Lauren Ambrose (Romeo and Juliet, Awake and Sing!)."  The film, which will also feature Lili Taylor (Landscape of the Body), will be released this fall. Andrew Wagner's 2007 film, which was previously seen at Sundance, will be released by Roadside Attractions.

Langella has also won Tonys for his work in Fortune's Fool and Seascape. Other Broadway credits include Match, Present Laughter, The Father, Hurlyburly, Dracula and A Cry of Players. He has appeared on film in Good Night, and Good Luck, Sweet November, Lolita, Junior, Masters of the Universe, the 1979 film version of Dracula, Diary of a Mad Housewife and more.
