Hunter Foster will re-team once again with Urinetown creators Greg Kotis and Mark Hollmann when he stars in their new musical The Man in the White Suit as part of the 21st New York Stage & Film and Vassar Powerhouse Theatre season, Friday, June 24th through Sunday, June 26th at Vassar's Martel Theatre.

An adaptation of a classic 1951 film, the musical is directed by David Petrarca and features music, book, and lyrics by Kotis and Hollmann, who won three 2002 Tony Awards, including Best Original Score (Kotis and Hollmann) and Best Book (Kotis), two Obie Awards, three Outer Critics Circle Awards, two Lucille Lortel Awards, and a Drama League Award for their satiric Urinetown.  Foster plays the role that was created by Sir Alec Guinness in the film-- Sidney Stratton, an eccentric scientist who invents a fabric that never gets dirty, setting off a major crisis in the textile industry.

Foster received 2004 Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations for Best Actor in a Musical, for his portrayal of Seymour in the Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors.  He originated the role of Bobby Strong in the Broadway and off-Broadway companies of Urinetown, for which he earned Outer Critics Circle and Lucille Lortel Award nominations. His other Broadway credits include Grease, Footloose, Les Misérables and Alan Menken's King David. He toured nationally as the Rum Tum Tugger in Cats, and understudied and performed the lead role in the Cameron Mackintosh production of Martin Guerre. Foster also played Abel in the New York premiere of Stephen Schwartz's Children of Eden at the Paper Mill Playhouse. As a writer, he has also penned the books to the musicals Summer of '42 (which premiered off-Broadway in the winter of 2002), and for the upcoming Bonnie and Clyde.

The Man in the White Suit plays on June 24th and 25th at 8:00 PM., and on June 26th at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM.  Tickets, which are $25, may be purchased online at  http://powerhouse.vassar.edu, by phone at (845) 437-5599 or (845) 437-7235, or by visiting the Powerhouse box office on Vassar's Poughkeepsie, NY campus.
