The first song from Matthew Morrison's upcoming theatre-themed solo album WHERE IT ALL BEGAN has just been released - a jazzy, syncopated cover of "It Don't Mean A Thing".

Morrison tells the Huffington Post, "'It Don't Mean A Thing' really captures the overall vibe of the album." He says, "I love the way it allows me to marry singing and dancing. You'll see what I'm talking about through the music video which will be released later this month!" Check out their story on the matter here.

"It Don't Mean A Thing" was written by Duke Ellington and Irving Mills. The song has appeared in a number of Broadway shows in many different guises, most notably in SOPHISTICATED LADIES and SWING!

Morrison's new album also contains tunes from THE WIZ - a duet with Smokey Robinson, no less - as well as selections from WEST SIDE STORY, MY FAIR LADY, OLIVER!, GUYS & DOLLS and others.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN is reportedly a "dream project" for Morrison, particularly getting the opportunity to work with legendary producer Phil Ramone on it, who has since passed away.

Matthew Morrison's WHERE IT ALL BEGAN will be released June 4. More information is available here.
