First Look At Controversial CORPUS CHRISTI Documentary, Out 10/14

By:

A first look at a new documentary tracing the history and production of Terrence McNally's highly controversial all-gay dramatic reworking of the story of Jesus Christ titled CORPUS CHRISTI is now available, subtitled CORPUS CHRISTI: PLAYING WITH REDEMPTION.

The new documentary explores the controversy surrounding the play when it premiered in 1998, inciting vocal outcry from religious groups and death threats to the playwright, as well as focuses on community theater and college productions of the play performed since its premiere.

Of note, CORPUS CHRISTI originally opened Off-Broadway in a Manhattan Theatre Club production directed by Joe Mantello on October 13, 1998 and closed on November 29, 1998.

CORPUS CHRISTI: PLAYING WITH REDEMPTION is set to be released on DVD and VOD on October 14.

More information on CORPUS CHRISTI: PLAYING WITH REDEMPTION is available at the official site here.
