Fashionistas Unite with Netrobe
By: Jennifer Diamond Jul. 24, 2013
Fashion lovers around the world can now share their closets, find inspiration, showcase wardrobe "must haves" and even shop online with the launch of NETROBE.COM. Prompting users with the simple question, "What are you wearing?," the new online social network tool makes it easy for tastemakers and fans alike to immerse themselves in the very latest trends, build outfits from what's already in their closets, and receive peer-to-peer feedback for the best new looks.
Designed by company founder and CEO Christina Plakopita as an iOS app in 2011, the web version was created in response to popular demand by loyal followers craving a social network to showcase their style and share ideas. Netrobe.com not only provides all of the features users loved on the original app, it also offers enhanced functionality on a larger screen as part of a more integrated platform. As CEO Christina Plakopita notes: "I wanted to create a globalized & digital forum where fashion enthusiasts could unite, house, and share their love for incredible style and inspiration."
Thousands already flock to the app to build their profile and share an unlimited number of items to their online closet, granting access to their wardrobe, wish lists, and inspirations. The site allows the user to upload real-time street-style photos as well as share inspirational art-directed fashion shoots found in magazines, which enables users to capture tangible trends and look their best for every occasion. Anyone can join Netrobe. Yet only the most talented users will enjoy the highest following and influence in the Netrobe community. Simply put, the site helps fashion lovers curate new looks with confidence as well as find inspirations from stylemakers and their peers. The site is also chockfull of content showcasing street-style stars, editors and much, much more. With the site set to go live in just a few days, fashionistas, style mavens and high profile editors as well as publicists have already signed up. To name a few on the elite roster--Meggan Crum and Mandy Tang from The RunThrough, Style Expert Ellianna Placas, Danielle Prescod, Fashion Editor at MODA OPERANDI, Rachael Wang, Fashion Market Director at Nylon, and Leah Karp of InStyle.
Other popular features includes Netrobe's "Hang It" bookmarklet tool, which allows users to easily add a picture from any site with just one click and link back to its original destination. And with the accessible virtual closet, fans can save favorite looks and plan an outfit for an upcoming event anytime, anywhere. Community members can also view other's closets, spurring infinite fashion ideas for new purchases and ways to style items. What's more, Netrobe provides suggestions on who to follow based on a fan's activity and wardrobe preferences.
Netrobe is continuing to expand its following, with plans for iPad and Android versions in development. The site will also implement new features and services available through the wealth of information in the Netrobe database of closets. Also in the works are partnerships with top designers and fashion e-shops, as well as affiliate programs for fashion bloggers and virtual styling programs.
