A free staged reading of a new Mae West musical, It's Not What I Say... will be presented at the York Theatre (located in the Citicorp building at Lexington and 54th Street), Tuesday, February 20th, at 7:30 P.M.

"The musical covers Mae's career on Broadway and in Hollywood, providing an unprecedented and very musical view into what really made Mae West tick," state press notes on the show, which will star Holly Faris and John Hickok (Little Women, Aida, Parade) and will be directed by Andy Sandberg.

The show's book, music and lyrics are by Daniel Lanning.  Musical direction will be handled by Jeffrey Buchsbaum.

The cast will also feature Stephen Brotebeck, Marcus Allen Cooper, Nick Dalton, Christopher Guilmet, Robert Anthony Jones, Roger Rifkin, Richard Rowan, Nathan Scherich, and David Weitzer.

The reading is presented by the York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director) as part of its Developmental Reading Series (Jeff Landsman, Series Coordinator), in association with Shea Sullivan and SAS Productions, Inc. For reservations, contact Jeff Landsman at 212-935-5824, ext. 24, or by e-mail at jlandsman@yorktheatre.org. The York Theatre website is www.yorktheatre.org.
