FUCT to Go to Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival, 1/14
FUCT (www.fuctnyc.com) is setting houses on fire, both literally and figuratively. In a recent performance, "Boy's Night Out," six of the male cast members, donning full mustaches, sprayed the packed audience with "lighter fluid" and explained that the night could only end in a Bacchanalian orgy that sounded like a scene from "Saw." All of this to raise money for The Prostate Cancer Foundation, The Lance Armstrong Foundation (LIVESTRONG), and plane tickets to the 10th annual Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival.
"We raised over $800 for Movember," Joe Galan (writer/performer, FUCT) speaking of the international fundraiser where men grow mustaches for the month of November, "and only $4 for the Chicago trip. Next time, I won't put our donation box next to a charity bin." FUCT did earn the money however, through a separate online campaign. Donation prizes ranged from a group website thank-you ($20 donation) to an original song performed anywhere ($50 donation), to a nude house cleaning ($100 donation).
"There's no way I was missing Chicago this year!" says Ian Lassiter (writer/performer, FUCT) who organized the Chicago Fundraiser. For the last two years, FUCT has made their presence known at the world's largest sketch festival. Hailed as a "Solid Bet" according to Gaper's Block (2010 CSCF), FUCT constantly shifts gears, switching from games - to stunts - to music - to last year's finale, two men performing an aerial ballet on silks hung from the ceiling.
"Do not be fooled - there are some very sharp sketches amongst the side-show antics," says Justin Haigh, Plank Panel Review 2010 Toronto Sketchfest. However, if the name of the troupe was not a clear enough indicator, FUCT IS AN "R" RATED SHOW. Expect to be offended, expect a bit of nudity, but most of all, expect the unexpected. This merry band of lunatics is coming to the big "10" prepared to party. So buy a ticket, have a drink and ask yourself. . . are you ready to get FUCT?
FUCT will be performing on Friday, January 14th at 10pm and Saturday, January 15th at 10pm, at Theatre 773, 1225 W Belmont Avenue.
