Christine Pedi as Annie in
FORBIDDEN BROADWAY

As reported by BroadwayWorld, Gerard Alessandrini, the brilliant parody lyricist behind the ever-evolving FORBIDDEN BROADWAY, will be devoting an 80-minute show to spoofing New York's biggest new hit.

The New York Post's Michael Riedel reports that SPAMILTON, taking its inspiration from Lin-Manuel Miranda's revolutionary new musical, HAMILTON, will feature a character based on its Tony-winning author/star seeking inspiration from a colonial-style Stephen Sondheim and classic Broadway divas played by expert FORBIDDEN BROADWAY mimic, Christine Pedi.

SPAMILTON will begin performances July 13 at The Triad, which was known as Palsson's Supper Club when FORBIDDEN BROADWAY premiered there in 1982. The show is currently scheduled to run through August 18.

FORBIDDEN BROADWAY began as an intimate nightclub entertainment featuring a company draped in formal wear, but has evolved through the years into a loud, wacky show boasting comical costumes and frequently vicious celebrity impersonations. Numerous editions of the show have played in Manhattan's cabaret spaces and Off-Broadway theatres with Alessandrini's clever and critical parody lyrics continually updated to satirize The Great White Way's newest musicals.

Here are some highlights from 2007's FORBIDDEN BROADWAY IN CONCERT, featuring shots at ANNIE, THE LION KING, CHICAGO, LES MISERABLES and much more.
