Day Three of Explore Islands Philippines brings a glimpse of its colorful culture and cuisine, from dance theater showcasing the living traditions of the indigenous communities, to Hollywood media views on trends in filmmaking in the Philippines. The Expo runs until May 12.

At 10:30am - A presentation by Arsenio "Nick" Lizaso, President and Chief Operating Officer, Cultural Center of the Philippines.

Other Activities:

12:00 - Kinding Sindaw performance features a recreation of the living traditions of dance, music, martial arts, storytelling and oratory of the indigenous peoples of the Philippines. The New York-based "Dance of Light" group has performed at many prestigious locations in the U.S.

1:30pm - A panel featuring Hollywood Foreign Press Association members Ruben Nepales and Janet Nepales and filmmaker Hezues R explores trends in films and location sites in the Philippines. Ruben is the first and only Filipino to be elected as chairman of the HFPA.

2:30pm - Learn about Filipino progressive cuisine from award-winning Aris Tuazon, chef of Ugly Kitchen. A French Culinary Institute alumnus, Aris is moving Filipino cuisine forward and pushing the limits without losing a sense of nostalgia for the cooking of his homeland.

3:30pm - Textile arts from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will be explained by Anthony Cruz Legarda, a Filipino American fashion designer and textile technologist, who founded The Hinabi Project to promote and sustain Philippine textile traditions.
