Brooklyn: The Musical's Eden Espinosa will be featured on CNN's
NewsNight with Aaron Brown on Wednesday, May 25th at 10:00 - 11:00 PM.
Her story as an actress and musician will be told on "On the Rise," which profiles young up-and-comers in their chosen field.Espinosa was nominated for a 2005 Drama League Award for Distinguished Performance for her title role in Brooklyn. Other Broadway credits include Wicked(for which she was the stand-by for Elphaba). Regionally, she has appeared in Triumph of Love, and can be heard on the concept album of Bright Lights, Big City, on The Maury Yeston Songbook and on John McDaniel Live at Joe's Pub.Brooklyn is produced by Mark Schoenfeld and Barri
McPherson, directed by Tony Award nominee Jeff Calhoun, with
Music Supervision, Arrangements and Orchestrations by Grammy and Emmy-award winner John McDaniel.
Brooklyn: the Musical is a whimsical urban fairy tale that tells of a Parisian street singer
who goes to her namesake city in search of her father; she finds fame
as a pop star along the way. The show features both a pop-soul score and book by Mark Schoenfeld and
Barri McPherson, played its first preview at the Plymouth (now the
Gerald Schoenfeld) Theatre on September 23rd, 2004 before officially
opening on October 21st. Jeff Calhoun directed, while Eden Espinosa,
Ramona Keller, Cleavant Derricks, Kevin Anderson and Karen Olivo
starred. To date, the musical has played just over 300 performances.
