Phoenix Theatre Ensemble presents Elise Stone in MEDEA & The Furies Directed by Karen Case Cook

Phoenix Theatre Ensemble (PTE) announces that MEDEA & The Furies will begin performances on April 16th at The Wild Project in NYC's East Village. The production will star Elise Stone as Medea. This is the second time with Medea for Ms Stone, who previously played the role in a celebrated performance at Jean Cocteau Repertory.

MEDEA & The Furies is a new adaptation. In the Myth prior to where Euripides picks up the story, Medea threatened to call on the Furies, feared avengers of misdeeds, to punish Jason if he did not fulfill a previous oath. This is the springboard for PTE's version where the Furies are ever present and utilize their considerable powers in attempting to break the Medea-Jason myth cycle.

Featured with Ms. Stone in the PTE cast are Peter Ganim as Jason and Lori Parquet, Morgan Rosse, and Josh Tyson as The Furies. The production is directed by 2014 NYIT Award Nominee Karen Case Cook with the NYIT Award-Nominee Design team of Ellen Mandel composing an original score, and Jennifer Stimple Kamei and Tsubasa Kamei designing costumes, sets, and lights.
