On Monday October 5, 2009 Dreamlight Theatre Company, in association with Third Coast Creative, will present an invitation-only reading of the new musical The Extraordinary Ordinary by Scott Burkell (book & lyrics) and Paul Loesel (music).

The six-person cast will feature Jason Danieley (Curtains, The Full Monty, Candide), Lisa Howard (9 to 5, South Pacific, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Pamela Bob (People Like Us), Ben Cherry, Logan Lipton (Wicked), and Gaelen Gilliland (9 to 5, Legally Blonde, Wicked).

Dreamlight's Artistic Director, Chip Klose, will direct the reading. Lynne Shankel is music supervisor.

The Extraordinary Ordinary follows a year in the life of six friends: Karen, Sam, Kate, Joey, Bev, and Zach. Unique individuals all struggling in some way to find contentment, love, and joy in their day-to-day lives. More than anything, it's a musical about everyday people and their ordinary lives. It reminds us that life is happening all around us every minute of every day, and we are given the choice - the Opportunity! - to allow our lives to dwindle away, or to live fully and deeply and make every moment extraordinary.

Scott Burkell and Paul Loesel's songs have been performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center ("American Songbook Series"), Joe's Pub, Symphony Space, The Kennedy Center, and the Chicago Humanities Festival. Their songs have been premiered by Kristin Chenoweth, Rebecca Luker, Marin Mazzie, Jason Danieley, Stephanie J. Block, Susan Egan, and Liz Callaway. Recordings of their work appear on Lisa Richard's album "Virgin Tracks", Marin Mazzie & Jason Danieley's "Opposite You", and Stephanie J. Block's "This Place I Know". Their musical review, Love Songs and Other Crap, was nominated for a MAC Award, and their new musical, Ella Minnow Pea received a developmental production at the University of Michigan last fall.

Dreamlight Theatre Company is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a home for Musical Theatre. Through readings, workshops, concerts, and full productions, they strive to provide a place where artists and audiences alike will find an unparalleled dedication to artistry and storytelling. Last season they received a Drama Desk nomination for their world premiere production of Chris Miller & Nathan Tysen's Fugitive Songs.

Third Coast Creative is a Houston-based production company with the goal of supporting the development and introduction of new works.
