Dominican Republic to Present Spanish Production of IN THE HEIGHTS

Amaury Sanchez is one the most proliferous Dominican producers. With his company he has brought to life local productions of Broadway hits like Cats, Jesuschrist Superstar, The Sound of Music, Evita, Beauty and the Beast, Chicago, Dreamgirls, The Wizard of Oz, among others.

The cast includes many Dominican stars from TV, music, movies and theater. With Javier Grullón (local productions: High School Musical, Rent, Chicago, Hairspray, West Side Story) as Usnavi, Diana Pou (local productions: High School Musical) as Vanessa, Héctor Aníbal Estrella (local productions: Jesuschrist Superstar, Rent, Chicago, Cats, Les Miserables, Legally Blonde) as Benny and Laura Lebrón (local productions: High School Musical, Hairspray, Fiddler on the Roof, Legally Blonde, Venus in Fur) as Nina. Also in the cast José Lora Checho as Kevin Rosario, Dolly García as Camila Rosario, Sonia Moreno as Abuela Claudia, Diomary la Mala as Daniela, Karla Fatule as Carla, Ian Castillo as Sony, Alejandro Moscoso as Piragua Guy and JJ Sánchez as Graffiti Pete. This production of "In The Heights" is directed by Waddys Jáquez who also served as director and choreographer of the hit Off?Broadway musical comedy "La Barbería" (The Barbershop) presented at the New World Stages to critical acclaim for six month in 2011 and winner of the ACE and HOLA awards. The choreography is from accomplished Dominican dancer Isadora Bruno and the musical direction by Sánchez himself.
"In The Heights" is a Tony winner for Best Musical. Has a book by Quiara Alegría Hudes and music and lyrics by Tonny winner Lin?Manuel Miranda. The Dominican production will be presented at the Palacio de Bellas Artes from November 7th to November 16th.
