The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson), Producer Mark Russell and the Association of Performing Arts Presenters (Executive Producer) invite professionals from all areas - artistic and administrative - of the theater community to attend DEVOTED AND DISGRUNTLED, a unique two-day seminar to be held Saturday, January 16 and Sunday, January 17 as part of Under the Radar 2010. The two day brainstorming event will be facilitated by the noted theater director Phelim McDermott, following successful Devoted and Disgruntled workshops in England and around the world. McDermott is co-founder of the acclaimed Improbable Theatre Company.

DEVOTED AND DISGRUNTLED brings people together using Open Space technology to explore the question, "What are we going to do about theater?" This is a chance to work on issues that theater professionals care about and want to take responsibility for, things they want to change, to question, to celebrate, to discuss, and to dream up. This exciting open-ended event enables a self-organizing group to use its collective imagination to deal with complex issues in a short span of time.

DEVOTED AND DISGRUNTLED will be held at The Church of St. Paul the Apostle Meeting Space (405 w. 59th St.) on Saturday, January 16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday, January 17 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. A two-day pass is available for $30.

Now in its sixth year, UNDER THE RADAR is an explosively diverse kaleidoscope of new theater-examples from around the world and the U.S. that spotlight artists ranging from emerging talents to masters in the field. Located at The Public Theater as well as partner venues, UNDER THE RADAR offers a crash course in theater that is exciting, independent, and experimental, created by some of the most dynamic artists working today.
