Davidson Community Players will hold auditions for actors and actresses of all ages, shapes and sizes for its upcoming summer productions: the classic Rogers and Hammerstein musical, OKLAHOMA! and the classic bedroom farce, NOISES OFF.

Auditions for actors and actresses ages 8 to 80 for OKLAHOMA! will be held at 7pm on March 15 & 16. DCP seeks a diverse cast of actors, singers and dancers for this June 2010 production. Opportunities for performers of varying levels, as well as for seasoned musical theatre folk. Auditionees should arrive at Armour Street Theatre, 307 Armour Street, in Davidson no later than 8pm on either the 15th or 16th and should prepare a song that shows off their voice. Bring sheet music in the proper key, accompanist provided. A prepared one minute monologue is optional. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes and be prepared to dance. (Dance audition is not required but is strongly encouraged.) Please bring a resume or list of theatre experience and a recent picture as well as a list of conflicts for the April-June timeframe. Callbacks for Oklahoma will be held on March 17 and are by invitation only. A callback specifically for dancers for the Dream Ballet will be held at a later date. Dancers must attend this initial audition in order to receive an invitation to this callback. Oklahoma! will be directed by Melissa Ohlman-Roberge. John Smith will musical direct, Diane Bracket and Felicia Davis will choreograph.

Auditions for the riotous backstage farce, NOISES OFF will be held at 7pm on March 29 and 30. Actors and actresses 18 and up are invited to attend. Auditions will begin at 7 p.m. and will consist of cold readings from the script. Auditionees should plan to arrive no later than 8 p.m. and need only attend one night of auditions. Bring a resume or list of theatre experience, a recent picture and a list of conflicts for the June/July 2010 time period. Callbacks for Noises Off will be held on March 31 and are by invitation only. Hailed as the funniest farce ever written, Noises Off is a hilarious comedy about putting on a comedy. It follows the onstage - and offstage - antics of an ailing acting company staging a production of a fictitious play called Nothing On. Noises Off will be directed by Jim Yost, whose production of Lend Me a Tenor for DCP played to record houses in July 2008.

Both productions will run for eight performances in the state-of-the-art Duke Family Performance Hall, on the campus of Davidson College. The Davidson Community Players is a non-profit organization established in 1965 to produce theatre that entertains, enriches and encourages community participation in the dramatic arts.
