DISNEY'S NEWSIES to be Presented at Hylton Performing Arts Center

This June, Actors Theatre at the ARTfactory is inviting audiences to seize the day with its exhilarating production of Disney's Newsies the Musical, running June 5 through June 21 at the Hylton Performing Arts Center.

Based on the real-life Newsboys Strike of 1899, Newsies is a high-energy, crowd-pleasing musical that follows a band of young newspaper sellers as they rally against powerful publishers in a fight for fair treatment. Featuring a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman, and a book by Harvey Fierstein, the show delivers an inspiring story of courage, resilience, and the power of unity.

Originally debuting on Broadway in 2012, Disney Newsies quickly became a runaway hit, extending its limited run due to overwhelming audience demand. The production went on to win two Tony Awards, including Best Original Score, and earned a devoted fanbase for its exhilarating choreography, stirring music, and underdog story. Since then, Newsies has become one of the most popular musicals for regional theaters and schools across the country, continuing to captivate new generations of audiences.

Audiences can expect thrilling choreography, memorable songs including "Seize the Day" and "Santa Fe," and a dynamic cast bringing this beloved story to life. With its blend of heart, humor, and spectacle, Newsies is a theatrical experience for audiences of all ages.

Directed by Caroline Scarborough and featuring Evan Zimmerman, Katie Rowe, Lauren Baker, Ryan Walker, Jeremy Willis, Lennox Chen, Sean Pflueger, Joel Jurack, Jimmy Edwards, Joey Vogel, Noah Delaune, Nate Castro, Evelyn Morris, Virginia Morris, Oliver Bogue, Amaia Moore, Nina Celestina, Renee Wolfe, Zack Walsh, Andrew Morin, Richard Pollington, Patrick Lamoureaux, Adrianna Weir, Mila Weir, Shea Irvin, Kalliope Gonos, David Maeng, Jordan McEachin, and Sebastian Scarborough. Performances will be held in the Gregory Family Theater on June 5, 6, 12, 13,19, and 20 at 7:30 PM and June 7, 14, and 21 at 2:00 PM.
