DISNEY'S DARE TO DREAM JR. to Make Historic Two-Weekend Run at Lakeland Players
The production at Historic Sprague Theater in Elkhorn is directed by Jacob Machado and Madison Davis.
Lakeland Players Ltd. will present Disney's Dare to Dream Jr., an inspiring and magical youth production opening Friday, July 17, 2026, at the Historic Sprague Theater in downtown Elkhorn.
Directed by Jacob Machado and Madison Davis, with Music Director Susan Gali and choreography by Chris Cantrell and Gracie Lochowicz, Dare to Dream Jr. brings together beloved Disney songs and stories in a celebration of imagination, courage, friendship, and the power of following your dreams.
This production marks a historic milestone for Lakeland Players' youth theater program as the first youth production in the organization's history to run for two full weekends. The expanded performance schedule reflects the remarkable growth of the program, the enthusiasm surrounding youth theater in the community, and the dedication of the cast and creative team who have worked tirelessly to bring this production to life.
More than just a musical revue, Dare to Dream Jr. is a celebration of imagination, confidence, and community. Featuring songs from beloved Disney classics alongside modern favorites, the production is designed to connect generations through music and storytelling while showcasing the talents of the area's young performers.
When asked about their vision for the production, directors Jacob Machado and Madison Davis shared:
"From the beginning, our vision for Dare to Dream Jr. was to create a production that would be just as meaningful for the adults in our audience as it is for our young performers. Disney has spent more than a century creating stories and songs that connect generations, and we wanted to celebrate that legacy on our stage. By blending the timeless magic of classic Disney favorites with the excitement, heart, and energy of modern Disney stories, we hope to create an experience that resonates with audiences of all ages. Our goal is to transport audience members back to some of their favorite childhood memories while creating new ones for today's families. Above all, we hope every person who walks through the theater doors leaves feeling inspired by the power of imagination, community, and the belief that dreams truly have no age limit."
Co-Director Madison Davis believes the production's impact extends far beyond the stage.
"This production is a huge milestone not only because of the extended run, but also for the production team and performers," said Davis. "We want to emphasize the power within oneself, no matter what role they play on stage or in life. Our goal is for each performer to leave this experience feeling strong and confident in themselves at every stage of life, both during and after this show."
For Co-Director Jacob Machado, the production represents both a personal and professional milestone.
"This production holds a special place in my heart, not only because of my love for theater, but because it marks my first major directing role," said Machado. "I have been incredibly fortunate to be welcomed to the Sprague Theater with such open arms and to work with such a talented cast. From the moment casting concluded, these performers arrived ready to work, ready to learn, and ready to give their all. That level of dedication is something truly special."
"Community theater gives young people an outlet to thrive, be themselves, explore new opportunities, and build lasting friendships," Machado continued. "I am grateful to be one of the many moving parts helping bring this production to life for our community. My goal is simple: fill the seats and let these kids shine."
Featuring a talented cast of local youth performers and music from some of Disney's most beloved films, Dare to Dream Jr. offers a heartwarming and entertaining experience for audiences of all ages. Through its uplifting message and unforgettable songs, the production encourages audiences to dream big, believe in themselves, and celebrate the unique gifts they each bring to the world.
