Tony Award-winner Chuck Cooper will star with Deborah Gibson in Saint Heaven, a world premiere musical that will run from June 1st through 11th Stamford Center for the Arts' Rich Forum in Stamford, CT.
The show "centers on a young doctor who returns to his hometown of St. Heaven, Ky., for his father's funeral. His plans to leave are complicated when he meets and falls in love with a young black woman who has the gift of speaking in tongues," according to Variety.With music and lyrics by Keith Gordon and a book by Martin Casella (Paper Moon at Goodspeed), Saint Heaven will also star Cheryl Alexander, Montego Glover, Darren Ritchie and Patrick Ryan Sullivan. The musical, which is based on a story by Steve Lyons, will be directed by Matt Lenz (resident director of Broadway's Beauty and the Beast) and produced by Van Hill Entertainment. The intimate musical will also feature a four-piece combo in addition to its six-person cast.Cooper, who last appeared at Yale Rep in dance of the holy ghosts: a play on memory, won a Tony Award for his performance in the Cy Coleman musical The Life, and has also been seen on Broadway in Lennon, Caroline, or Change, Chicago, Passion, Getting Away with Murder and Someone Who'll Watch Over Me, among others. He also appeared as a regular on the TV show "100 Centre Street."Videos
