The lyrics of David Zippel--who most recently penned lyrics for The Woman in White and Princesses--will be explored in a star-studded February 24th concert in The Allen Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center (at Broadway and 60th St.). The evening will be presented at both 8:30 PM and 10:30 PM.

Go The Distance: The Lyrics of David Zippel will feature Brent Barrett (Chicago, Grand Hotel), brian d'Arcy James (The Lieutenant of Inishmore, Tony-nominated for Sweet Smell of Success), Jenny Fellner (Princesses in Seattle), Jason Graae (Falsettos), Anne Letscher (Fiddler on the Roof), Sally Mayes (Tony-nominee for She Loves Me, Urban Cowboy), Lindsay Mendez and Billy Porter (Smokey Joe's Cafe, Grease), while the legendary Barbara Cook (The Music Man, Candide) will perform at the 8:30 concert only. Christopher Marlowe will provide the musical direction for both performances.

Zippel's work for the stage includes the The Woman In White (with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber) and Princesses (with music by Matthew Wilder); the latter is Broadway-bound. Other credits include the noir musical comedy City of Angels, for which he won the 1990 Tony Award for Best Original Score (shared with composer Cy Coleman) and The Goodbye Girl (with music by Marvin Hamlisch). Zippel has also written lyrics for Oscar-nominated songs from the Disney hits Mulan and Hercules, some of which have also scored on the pop charts.
